What Mediumship Feels Like for Me: A Glimpse Into My Process

Communication through the veil can seem impossible and murky, but with help of a medium, your loved one is within reach.
Communication through the veil.

Mediumship isn’t a one-size-fits-all ability. Just like people have their own unique ways of expressing themselves, mediums also experience the spirit world in their own unique ways. I wanted to share a little about how it works for me—how I connect, how spirit communicates, and what it’s like to be the bridge between two worlds.

Some mediums experience spirit around them constantly. They may see spirits walking through a room or hear voices whispering when they’re trying to sleep. That’s not how it works for me—and honestly, I’m grateful. My connection with spirit is intentional. I don’t walk around seeing ghosts or hearing things out of the blue. Spirit doesn’t just “show up” unless I invite that connection.

When I prepare to do a mediumship reading, I consciously shift into that space. I begin by expanding my aura outward—stretching it toward the person I’m reading for (often called the “sitter”). It’s like casting a net of light and intention, and through that energetic opening, spirits who are connected to the sitter will step forward to communicate.

I don’t see spirit with my physical eyes. Instead, I see them in my mind’s eye. I hear their voice in my thoughts. Sometimes I can even see the environment they want to show me—often a meaningful memory or setting they want to share. I tune into their senses—what they saw, felt, or heard in life—and often, the emotions they want to convey flow through me with vivid clarity.

What’s amazing is that spirit will communicate in the ways that work best for me, meeting me in the language I understand—whether it’s visuals, emotions, sensations, or inner dialogue. Every detail matters, because it’s all part of the evidence I bring through to help the sitter recognize their loved one. It’s never just about the message. It’s about provingthe presence of that soul, letting the sitter feel the connection with their own heart.

Once that recognition is there, spirit shares what they need to say. Sometimes they come through joyful and chatty, so excited to reconnect. Other times, they arrive carrying emotional weight from their time on Earth—grief, regret, guilt, or shame. Even in spirit, healing continues. And through these messages, both spirit and the sitter can find peace, closure, or a sense of release.

I feel incredibly honored to do this work. To me, spirit is just like us—people with stories, personalities, emotions, and love that lives on. They simply exist in a different dimension, one that I’m privileged to touch when the time is right.

Thank you for letting me share a bit about my journey as a medium, and what mediumship feels like to me. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like “on my side” of the connection, I hope this gives you a clearer view—and maybe even brings a little peace or curiosity to your heart.

With love,

Heather
